Carcans-plage was a small easy going place, with a few restaurants and bars. Either side of the beach walkway are vast pine forests stretching away along the straight sandy beaches as far as you can see. Its surprisingly easy to park up around here.
When we first walked over the dune to catch an initial glimpse of the waves, we weren't very excited. The forecast was a miserable 1-2/flat for our entire first week in France. However, ascending the dune we were greeted with an encouraging 4ft swell with peaks all over the place. The period must have been incredibly short as the waves were so close together. But, to my delight, the odd double up pushing onto the shore provided some heavy sections.
The following day the waves returned to the expected 1ft and it was time to move on.
